Paul E. Fabian

Paul Fabian is Director of Testing and Compliance at Steelhead Composites and manages the company’s Testing Services group. He oversees development, qualification, and production test campaigns for internal and external customers.  Paul has over 37 years of testing experience in the composite industry and has conducted test programs for DoD, DoE, NASA, Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman, Ball Aerospace, MIT, PPPL, NIST and numerous other Government Agencies and National Laboratories.

Since joining Steelhead in 2022, Paul has expanded the company’s proof, burst, and cycle testing capabilities to include helium leak testing, thermal cycle testing, pressure-versus-strain measurement, and other aerospace-specific tests. He has also supported Multi-Element Gas Container testing by implementing proof-testing and leak-detection protocols and testing.

Paul oversees compliance with pressure-vessel safety and testing requirements in the European Union, Australia, and the United States and works closely with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to gain approval and certification for new pressure vessel designs. He also secured DOT approval for Steelhead to perform recertification testing of existing pressure vessels for external customers.
